PSA Dagger Holster Compatibility

The PSA Dagger Compact is made by Palmetto State Armory. It is a Glock 19 clone priced at an amazing value of $299.00 for the base model at the time of writing. It is available on the Palmetto State Armory Website.

It is compatible with many Gen 3 Glock 19 parts making it easy to find parts for the Dagger. That doesn't mean all Glock 19 holsters will work with your Dagger.

Before we made our PSA Dagger IWB Holsters we were asked quite a bit what holsters would fit a PSA Dagger. In particular people would ask:

Does a PSA Dagger fit in a Glock 19 holster?

The short answer is it depends. Your setup and the type of holster you choose will all have a bearing on holster compatibility. The most meaningful distinction between the two besides your chosen accessories is whether you have a hard-sided holster or a soft-sided holster.

Here is a quick rundown of the factors to take into account when determining PSA Dagger holster compatibility.

Accessories

Like the Glock 19, the PSA Dagger Compact can accommodate many aftermarket upgrades. Some of these components affect holster compatibility for all holster types. Here are some of the most common accessories that will affect holster compatibility.

Optics

If you have optics or plan to mount an optic on your Dagger, you need a holster that is cut to accommodate your RDS. Look for holsters that are "optics ready."

Suppressor Sights

Suppressor sights are taller than standard sights to be visible above the suppressor. If you have or plan to install suppressor sights, make sure the sight channel is tall enough to accommodate the sights.

Threaded Barrell/Compensator

Threaded barrels and compensators extend the muzzle of the firearm. If the end of the holster is not open or made specifically to fit a threaded barrel or specific compensator, the firearm will not fully insert into the holster. Make sure to look for an open front cut or a holster molded specifically to your application.

Weapon Mounted Lights/Lasers

A light or laser on your gun will require a specific holster. The geometry of every light and laser is different enough to influence holster fit. Soft-sided holsters are more forgiving of these differences than hard-sided holsters.

The accessory rail on the Dagger compact is in a different position relative to the Glock 19 Gen 3. This will break compatibility in most hard-sided holsters but not necessarily in soft-sided holsters.

Hard-Sided & Soft-Sided Compatibility Considerations

Hard-Sided Holster: Kydex/Boltaron or Other Polymer Holsters

The majority of hard-sided holsters for the Glock 19 will not be compatible with the PSA Dagger Compact. Those that get their retention from an indention in the trigger guard especially.

The edge of the trigger guard on the 19 is more rounded and the trigger guards do not fit in the same envelope when the muzzles of the two firearms are aligned. It would be possible to make a holster to fit both but there would have to be some compromises in fit and retention.

The Dagger is the blue body above, the Glock 19 Gen 3 is represented by the wireframe.

The accessory rail is lower on the Dagger. In rigid molded holsters you can have less mass but not more. Just like a round peg of the right size will fit into a square hole but that square peg will not fit into the round hole.

The blue is the PSA Dagger, the wireframe is the outline of the Glock 19 Gen 3. Notice the placement of the bottom of the rail.

The geometry of the trigger guard is different in the Dagger. In most cases, it will not allow the detent to seat properly. In the cases that it does, it is likely going to have rattle.

Although it may "fit" in some of these, it won't fit properly which can be dangerous. We absolutely do not recommend using a hard-sided Glock 19 holster for your PSA Dagger.

A Kydex or Boltaron holster designed specifically for the PSA Dagger is the way to go. We strongly recommend going this route.

CYA has three options for the PSA Dagger:

Our PSA Dagger Base IWB Holster is available with or without optics cut, accommodates suppressor sights, and a threaded barrel.

The Ridge IWB Holster for the Dagger is compatible with optics, suppressor sights, threaded barrels, and compensators. It also comes standard with a DCC Monoblock clip and a ModWing concealment claw.

Soft-Sided Holsters: Leather Nylon and Other Soft Holsters

The dimensions of the Dagger are similar to the Glock 19, but they are not identical. The Dagger lines up well enough that it should not cause fitment issues with a full leather holster. That is assuming it is set up for your accessories.
